We’ll discuss borrowing books from the Kindle Owners Lending Library.  If you would like to follow along on the video, you may do so here.

What is the Kindle Owners Lending Library?

The Kindle Owners Lending Library is a service available to Amazon Prime members, and features hundreds of thousands of titles, including best-sellers.

How long can I keep them?

Borrowed books have no due date and can be delivered to any device registered to your Amazon account.

How many books can I have at a time?

Prime members can borrow one book from the library each calendar month.

How do I find the library?

From your device, open the Kindle store and select the “All Categories” tab, then select “Kindle Owners Lending Library” from the pop-up tab.  You may now browse the thousands of titles available to you.  When you have made your selection, tap “Borrow for Free”.  Remember-you may only borrow one book at a time.  If you have an outstanding book, you will be prompted to return it before you can borrow a different one.

What else should I know?

Titles in the Lending Library may change from month-to-month.  And if you cancel your Prime membership while you have an outstanding Lending Library book, it will automatically be removed from your device and returned to the library.  While you are reading the book, you may highlight and bookmark as you would with a book that you’ve purchased.  These are saved in your Amazon account, and should you choose to borrow the book again, or to purchase it at a later date, they will be available to you.

How do I return a book?

To return a book, visit the “Manage my Content and Devices” page at www.amazon.com/mycd.  Select the book that you wish to return and click on the “Actions” tab.  Select “Return this book” from the pop-up menu.  The book will automatically be removed from any devices where you have it downloaded, and returned to the Lending Library.

If you have any questions, or need Kindle support, you may visit the Help pages at www.amazon.com/devicesupport.  And as always, check back here regularly.  We are your one-stop Kindle information shop, and we are constantly updating our site with new and relevant information.  And remember — if we don’t know the answer — we’ll find it for you!
