CES 2014: Asus Transformer Book Duet

Fire HD 8: Under $60 only and Fire HD 10 (the Tablet of 2018) with $30 off Deals Today!

Asus announced its latest tablet device today at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, and as usual Asus has stunned the tech world with another unusual design for their latest laptop/tablet hybrid, Asus Transformer Book Duet. What makes the Book Duet very unique is the fact that this hybrid comes with both Windows 8 and an Android operating system. You might be wondering how this works? With a switch of course!

Asus calls it the Instant Switch Button, and it makes switching between Windows 8.1 and Android 4.2.2 OS as easy as flipping a switch.

From The Asus Press Release

By offering both operating systems, ASUS provides users the ability to run supported Android applications and a vast array of native Windows applications. Transformer Book Duet features a powerful Intel Core i7 processor with Intel HD graphics and 4G DDR3L 1600 RAM, giving it performance thatís up to twice as fast as existing tablets powered by ARMÆ processors.

More Feature Highlights On The Transformer Book Duet

ASUS remains true to their commitment to portability with the compact dimensions of the Transformer. The tablet measures 342.7 x 216.3 x 12.9mm and the dock comes in at a mere 342.7 x 216.3 x 12.9. It’s weight comes in at at just over 4 pounds, all of which makes this hybrid very portable.

Asus also announced the prices, which will be steep. They will start at $599 on the 1366 x 768 screen, and $699 for models with a 1080p screen resolution.

A release date has yet to be announced.

Other notable features include, the 13.3î high definition touchscreen display, and the top of the line Intel Core i7 processor. The hard disk space is impressive with a nice 128GB on the tablet and a whopping 1TB in the dock.

One downside is that it only has 4GB of RAM, not too impressive with the highly intensive programs that people tend to run these days, and will be a disappointment for gamers.

ASUS Press Conference CES 2014 : Dual OSTransformer Book Duet TD300

I love this quote from Mr. Shih (Chairman of Asus) at his CES announcement, “My aspiration is to turn ordinary, into extraordinary.” And, I believe they have done it with the incredible Instant Switch. Being that I use my tablet device for business, productivity is very important to me, and there have been many times when I wished I could have access to both Android and Windows at the same time. Love the fact that I don’t have to go into settings or push several buttons to interchange between Win and Android, all it takes is a flip of a switch and 4 seconds and it’s done! I also appreciate the fact that Asus didn’t compromise on performance in lieu of this “BIG” feature, the latest model is loaded with the fastest processor to date, the 4th Gen Intel i7 Quad Core.
