The new Amazon Fire Phone…Kicking It Up a Notch

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve”

W. Clement Stone

I am pretty sure that W. Clement Stone was not talking about the new Amazon Fire Phone when he wrote that…but he could have been.  We are living in the most technologically advanced society in history, and there seems to be no end in sight to what we are capable of.  Ten years ago the general public had never heard of a “smartphone”.  In 2007, Apple introduced it’s first iPhone, and the world went crazy.  Now, just seven short years later, that revolutionary new phone is all but useless.  With each new upgrade, each new technological advance, we put ourselves further and further into the future, and now the future is literally in the palm of our hands.

Amazon Fire Phone

In less than 24 hours, Amazon is expected to introduce it’s new smartphone, the Fire Phone, and preliminary reports are that it is going to change the way that we do life.  Radically.

Shopping on Fire.

No more do you have to go to the store, or multiple stores, price shop, debate over a purchase, then remember where you saw the best price and go back to the store to purchase it.  With Amazon’s new Fire Phone, you simply say, scan or snap a picture of the item you’re searching for, and instantly you get price comparisons from Amazon and it’s merchants.  Then, without even moving out of your seat, you purchase the item and track it from the warehouse to your front door.  You will still have to get out of your chair and bring it in off of the front porch — they haven’t come up with an app for that yet — but I’m sure they will!

The New Amazon Fire Smartphone: Closing the Gap

About 24 hours from now, Amazon is hosting a media event in Seattle, and if the rumors are true, they will be introducing their long-awaited, much anticipated smartphone.  Reportedly called the “Fire Phone”, the new device has been the subject of leaks and speculation for some time.  Amazon is taking the plunge into a highly competitive market controlled almost exclusively by Apple and Samsung.  Previous attempts to enter the market have failed miserably (Nexus One, Blackberry anyone?) and Amazon is going to have to bring it’s A-game if it expects to succeed.

Amazon Dream Fire Phone

With just over a day to wait, there is still much speculation about the new phone, and questions aplenty.  We’ll tackle some of them with what we know (or think we know).

Who is Fire Phone aiming for?

In short, the consumers.  Amazon is seeking to close the gap between “Hey, I want that” and “Hey, I own that”.  The new phone will reportedly put every single feature that they offer on this new phone, connecting people with music, movies, shopping, reading and pretty much anything else that you could possibly need or want to do in life.

By bundling it’s services under it’s well known Prime package and offering incentives to buyers, Amazon could very well take a flying leap into the world of smartphones and not fall flat on it’s face.

The Amazon Experience for Android: Work That Phone!

On June 18th, Amazon is reportedly going to announce the release of it’s new “Fire Phone“–a long awaited smartphone from the Kindle gurus.  This much anticipated new phone will, if it lives up to expectations, take owning a smartphone to a whole new level.  It will be a veritable home-shopping network, and it’s hard to imagine that, given the success of it’s Kindle Fire tablet, the phone could possibly run anything other than Android.

But I already HAVE an Android phone and all Amazon Apps!

Good for you.  But I’ll bet you a cookie that you’re not using it like you could be.  Sure, you’ve got all of your contacts stored in it, and your calendar is completely up-to-date, and you’ve got all those cute photos of Fluffy, your pet iguana…but I can still show you a thing or two.  So sit back and listen up.

Kindle Android: It’s an entire library at your fingertips!

Kindle for Android might be the coolest thing ever invented.  You just download the app, find the books that you want to read and Voila!  You have an entire library packed into your purse, or briefcase, or diaper bag…Some things you can do include:

  • Read free books.  Amazon has literally thousands of free books available for download.
  • Listen to your books.  You can toggle between reading and listening, so you won’t miss a moment of your favorite book, whether you’re stuck in traffic, sitting at the beach or working in the garden.
  • Sync to furthest page read.  Whispersync technology tracks your reading across all of your devices, so you will always know where you left off, without having to search all over the place.
  • Sample books before buying.  Amazon allows you to download the first chapter for free, just to make sure you like it.
  • Borrow library books.  You can borrow books from your local library for free and download them onto your Kindle for Android.

The Kindle for Android app also allows you to read magazines and newspapers, with the flexibility to purchase a single issue or a full subscription.  See?  Told ya it was cool!
