When it comes to the Kindle vs. the Kindle White there are key differences to look at to better understand which is right for you. The main area to consider is the screen. The Paperwhite features a new white screen that looks just like the surface of a book. This type of screen makes sure that there is no glare from sunlight when you’re trying to read. The Kindle Basic 2014 is similar, allowing for easy reading, but it’s not as natural or easy on the eye as the Paperwhite, which was updated solely for that reason. Both the Kindle and the Paperwhite have individual features that make them quality products, but there are many more differences between the two, as you’ll soon see.
Design
There are many similarities in design, however, the Paperwhite has no buttons on the exterior, for a polished look and feel. The design is smooth and black, with ‘kindle’ printed neatly on the bottom.

Screen
The Kindle 6 is not as good as the Paperwhite at blocking glare from sunlight or other bright lighting but still does an effective job. The Kindle has the appearance of a book and dark fonts that makes reading better than traditional books. However, reading is easier with the Kindle Paperwhite, which has been improved to look exactly like a white sheet of paper, resulting in no glare at all.
It also has a built-in light with a 300 dpi high-resolution screen that allows you to read without straining your eyes, and will adjust automatically to the amount of light in the room. So if you go somewhere with poor lighting it will automatically increase and if you’re somewhere bright, like the beach, it will dim accordingly.
Both are 6″ screens but the Kindle 6 lacks the light feature which is a must-have for night readers.
