Design

The NOOK is designed to be durable. It is ideal for people who carry their ereader in their pocket or bag containing several other items. The Kindle focuses on the overall reading experience and this makes it the ideal choice for people who will use an eReader on a regular basis at different times of the day and for different purposes.

Screen

The NOOK has an six-inch screen that is designed with durability in mind. This is great for people who prefer a niche screen and anyone who is worried about damaging the screen. The Kindle has a matching six inch screen, but their screen has a built in light and sixteen levels of grey to choose from. This is ideal for people who find it difficult to read text in lighter or darker shades as they can adapt the text to meet their needs.

It is also good for those who read in bed at night and do not want to disturb others as they can use the reading light.

Navigation

Both products have made improvements from their previous models to ensure that navigation is as simple as possible for the user. This means they can both be used by people who are eReader newbies and also by children. The Kindle is the better choice if you are planning on your children using your eReader as there are greater options for children’s content available from Amazon.

Battery

Both the NOOK and the Kindle have an eight-week battery life so they are similar in this respect. If the length of the battery life is one of your main concerns, either option would be equally appropriate.

Price

Both eReaders are currently priced at $119. This means that they fall into the same price bracket and will appeal to people with the same budget range.

Storage

The Kindle holds over 1,000 books and includes free Cloud storage for all Amazon content. This is perfect both for people who use Amazon to obtain content and for heavy readers who are likely to take full advantage of the storage space. The NOOK comes with the ability to store up to 2,000 books. You will also receive personal recommendations from Barnes & Noble.

Dimensions

While the Kindle measures 6.7″ x 4.6″ x 0.36″ and weighs 7.3 oz or 206 grams, the NOOK GlowLight weighs a lighter 6.2 oz or 175 grams. The NOOK measures 6.5” x 5” x 0.4”, meaning both products are similar in size.

Pros and Cons of the Kindle Paperwhite

The major advantages of the Kindle Paperwhite are the cutting edge screen light that allows you to read in the dark, the overall reading experience and the simple navigation that can easily be used by both adults and children. As the storage is limited to around 1,000 books, this could be considered to be its major disadvantage. However, if you are unlikely to read 1,000 books, then this is not an issue.

Pros and Cons of the NOOK GlowLight

The biggest advantages of the NOOK GlowLight include the larger amount of storage available (up to 2,000 books), and the durability of the product.

Conclusion- The Best Choice

Overall, when comparing the Kindle Paperwhite versus NOOK GlowLight 2014 there are many similarities between the two products and this means they will appeal to a similar target market.
